My
bachelor's degree was in Mathematics from the University of Washington,
Seattle in 1972, I received a Master's Degree in Statistics from the California
State University as Hayward in 1974, and a Ph.D. in Statistics with a minor
in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis in 1979. I
joined the Department of Statistics at UC Davis in 1979 and have been a member
of the Graduate Group in Epidemiology since its creation. I am a fellow
of the American Statistical Association and an elected member of the International
Statistical Institute. My involvement in the GGE stems from my strong interest
in developing and applying statistical methods that are useful in Epidemiology,
and from my strong interest in working with students who are motivated to
do the same. It was in fact an Epidemiology student who initially stimulated
my interest in the field and who convinced me of the value of becoming involved.
More broadly, I am very interested in the interface between Science and
Statistics. |
